Joseph (Joe) Everett Conner
Joseph (Joe) Everett Conner, age 86, was born on September 30, 1939. He went to his home in Heaven to be with his Savior on September 4, 2026. He was honored to call Murrayville, GA and Hall County home for his entire life. Joe was the oldest son of the 10 children of Clyde and Dorothea Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George Conner, Johnny Conner; sisters, Mary Brookshire, Clydine Hulsey, Libby Featherston; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Coombs Conner.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Vivian Reed Conner; son, Bryan Conner; daughter, Tonia Conner; grandchildren, Alden and Zachary Conner; sister, Edwina (Wayne) Blackburn; brothers, Charles Conner, Donald Conner, Nelson (Jean) Conner; brother-in-law, Joel Brookshire; sisters-in-law, Hazel Smith and Nancy Conner; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins from multiple generations on both sides of the family. A special thank you to nephew, David Conner, for his help and support throughout this difficult time.
Joe was saved at age 15 in the arbor of Yellow Creek Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member and deacon. Throughout the years he also served in a multitude on jobs at the church including Sunday school teacher and superintendent; trustee, and church clerk for 40+ years.
Joe was an honor graduate of North Hall High School’s first graduating class in 1958. He worked to put himself through college, attending Truett McConnell, Georgia Tech, and Southern Tech and graduating with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. He then began his 30+ year career with the Georgia Department of Transportation as a bridge maintenance engineer. He also served 6 years in the Georgia Army National Guard’s 48th Hurricane Engineering Division.
Joe was a 32nd degree Mason and a proud member of Murrayville Lodge #30 F & AM for 50+ years. He was also a member of the Lanier Shrine Club and the Shriner’s Yaarab Temple in Atlanta. He raised over $350,000 to help burned and crippled children at the Shriner’s Hospitals around the US and was seen by many throughout the community collecting money at the intersection of Hwy. 60 & 400.
Joe humbly led a life of service to God, family, friends, and country. He was loved by all who knew him and will forever be remembered by them. Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Stone and Rev. Shane Wehunt will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
