Douglas Alfred Shaw

Douglas Alfred Shaw, 79 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday September 29, 2026.

A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Shaw as the son of the late A.N. and Ione Bennett Shaw. He was retired from General Motors with 32 years of service, and he also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Shaw was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church now known as Christ Place Church.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sheila Shaw, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sue Shaw, Homer; brother-in-love and wife Troy and Rosita Bennett, Cleveland. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Shaw is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Julia and Ewell Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday October 1, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Mason Funeral Home. Rev. Dave Channell and Rev. Chris Miller will officiate.   Interment will be held at the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
