Billy Wayne Clark, age 84, known by everyone as Pawpaw, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born to the late Herman and Effie (Parks) Clark. He was a faithful member of Cool Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 43 years. His faith and dedication to his church were an important part of his life.
He worked as a carpenter and contractor for many years, taking pride in his work and the things he was able to build with his hands.
Pawpaw loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He enjoyed camping with his family and grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors with his great-grandchildren, especially taking them to the creek. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and simply being outdoors with the people he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Effie (Parks) Clark; his brothers, Tommy Clark, Jack Clark, Charlie Clark, Bob Clark, and HA Clark; and his sisters, Kate Clark, Thelma DeLong, Margie Peck, and Willie Sue Pendley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce (Thomas) Clark, whom everyone calls Nanny. He loved Nanny deeply and was devoted to her throughout their many years together.
He is also survived by daughters, Peggy (Darin) Cain and Jenny (Joey) Cain; son, Phil (Michelle) Clark; grandchildren, Derek (Jessica) Cain, Taylor (Sarah) Clark, Drew (Katelyn) Cain, Jonathon (Elizabeth) Cain, Lauren (Cade) Bryan, Erin (Austin) Tompkins, and Jessamy (David) Norton; great-grandchildren, Dawson Cain, Riley Cain, Jace Cain, Denver Cain, Mason Cain, Campbell Clark, Duncan Cain, Mikayla Norton, Evie Clark, Henry Norton, Carson Clark, Wesley Tompkins, Tate Cain, and Shepherd Cain; and brother, Larry “Pudd” (Benny) Clark, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family at the home of Wayne and Joyce Clark. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at Cool Springs Baptist Church on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Darin Cain, Richard Thomas, Phil Clark and Chris York officiating.
Burial will follow at the Thomas Family Cemetery.
